First appointment

Book your first psychological assessment appointment at Calma de Ser

You will find calm in the first step too.

You may have been feeling for some time that something is not right. Or perhaps you cannot put into words what is happening to you, but you notice that you need a space for yourself and to take care of your mental and emotional health.

At Calma de Ser we offer psychological care from an integrative psychology approach in El Masnou, adapting to your story, your needs and your moment in life.

You do not have to do it alone. Sometimes, everything begins with a first session.

  • Length25 minutes
  • FormatIn person in El Masnou or online
  • Booking and paymentIn the online calendar

Important: exceptions to the first assessment. In couples therapy, family therapy and neuropsychology processes, this prior assessment session does not take place. For couples therapy, we will ask you to tell us your availability so that we can assess which professional can support you. In neuropsychology, assessments take place in the morning, usually on Wednesdays. Once we receive your request, we will contact you to schedule the first visit directly with the specialist professional.

The first assessment lasts 25 minutes and can take place in person at our centre in El Masnou or online. The professional who carries out this assessment may be different from the one who supports you later during therapy.

Who is
this first appointment for?

This first appointment is for you if you feel that something inside you is asking for attention, space or calm. If you need to understand what is happening to you and begin to take care of your mental health with professional support, here you have a place to do it.

The calm of knowing you are in good hands.

It can help you if:

  • You are going through a difficult time and feel you need support to hold it.
  • You are experiencing anxiety, sadness, feeling stuck, guilt or a sense of being overwhelmed.
  • You are in a personal, family, relationship or work crisis.
  • You find it hard to set boundaries, or feel you have disconnected from yourself.
  • You have been thinking for a while about starting psychological care, but do not know where to begin.
  • You feel that your distress is affecting your daily life, your relationships, your rest or your emotional well-being.
  • You do not know exactly what is happening to you, but you notice that something inside is not right.

What is the first assessment appointment like?

During this first appointment we will talk about what has brought you here, how you are feeling and what you would like to change at this moment in your life.

We will also explain how we work at Calma de Ser, from an integrative psychology approach in El Masnou, and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.

It is important for you to know that the first appointment will not be with your future psychologist. We want to get to know you and assess which professional will best be able to support you along this path, calmly.

We will go step by step.

First assessment for children and adolescents

In child and adolescent processes, we will invite the parents or legal guardians without the minor present, so that you can explain how you see things and what is happening to them.

In couples therapy, family therapy and neuropsychology we follow a different process: we do not carry out this prior assessment. We take your availability and contact you to schedule the first visit directly with the specialist professional.

How does booking work?

Contact us if you have general questions

If you need to resolve questions about prices, procedure or how the centre works, we recommend contacting us mainly through the web form, WhatsApp or email.

If you prefer to call us, bear in mind that we see clients throughout the day and may not be able to answer at that moment. If we cannot take your call, we will call you back within approximately 24 hours.

Book an appointment online and fill in the form

When you open the online calendar, you can choose the slot that suits you best and fill in the initial form. This form helps us understand a little better what you need before the first visit.

Important: when you make the booking, the visit is confirmed and paid.

We hold the first assessment visit

We meet in a first 25-minute visit, in person or online. In this space we listen to you, gather what you are going through, answer your questions and assess together what kind of support can help you.

This first visit can also already give you some guidance on your therapeutic process. Sometimes, naming what is happening to you and beginning to sort it out with a professional is already a small therapeutic help.

We guide you on the next steps

If you decide to continue, we will guide you on the therapeutic process and the kind of support most suitable for you.

If you are looking for couples therapy, family therapy or neuropsychology

In these cases you will not need to book the 25-minute first assessment. Write to us on WhatsApp (opens in a new tab) or fill in the contact form, stating the service you need, your full name, phone and email.

For couples therapy, also tell us your availability so that we can assess which professional can support you. In neuropsychology, assessments take place in the morning only, usually on Wednesdays.

The specialist professional will contact you by email, WhatsApp or phone, depending on the service, to schedule the first visit directly.

We walk with you along the way, and you decide for how long

Booking a first appointment does not mean you have to commit to starting a long process from the very first moment.

The first assessment session is also there so that you can learn how we work, feel whether the space suits you and consider whether this is the support you need right now.

At Calma de Ser we believe that therapy begins with something very simple: being able to talk about what is happening to you in a place where you feel understood.

And after the first appointment, how do we continue?

After the first assessment session, if you decide to go on, we will work out together which kind of support best suits you.

There is no single path, because every person and every moment in life is different. That is why, before suggesting anything, we need to listen to you, understand what you are going through and give ourselves the time needed to guide you with calm.

Depending on your situation, the process can take different forms:

If you have questions before booking

Perhaps you have questions about the format, the price or availability. You can write to us before booking.

WhatsApp is a channel for resolving initial questions, guiding you about the process and helping you take the first step. It is not a space for therapy by chat, but a way of getting in touch to make booking easier and clear up practical matters before the first appointment.

Start from calm

Blog and podcast: tools to help you

At Calma de Ser we offer you resources to accompany you before, during or after your therapeutic process.

On the blog we share content about anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, therapy, moments in life and emotional health.

And on the podcast, Voy a la Psico, we open up close conversations about psychology, therapy and all those things that are often hard to say out loud.

These resources can help you find your way, but they do not replace personalised therapeutic support.

Questions you may be asking yourself

Does the first assessment appointment commit me to continuing?

No. The first appointment is a space to get to know each other, understand your situation and see together whether this support suits you. No obligation.

Do I have to know exactly what is wrong with me?

No. Many people arrive with doubts, confusion or the feeling of “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but something isn’t right”.

The session is precisely for beginning to put words to that.

Can I have the first appointment online?

Yes. You can request a first appointment online. In the first session we will assess with you whether this format is suitable for your case.

Can I have therapy in person?

How does the booking process work?

You can choose the day and time through our online calendar. When you complete the booking and the payment, you will receive the confirmation and all the information you need for the first assessment.

What is the first therapy session like?

Sessions, both in person and online, last 50 minutes.

In the first sessions you will get to know each other, talk about your story, how you are at the moment and the goals you would like to work on. Together you will define some goals and agree on the frequency of sessions according to your needs.

At the start we usually recommend three weekly sessions, to get to know your story in depth. Later, the frequency may become weekly or fortnightly, depending on how the process develops.

Individual, couples or family therapy?

We offer individual, couples and family support.

If you are unsure, we can hold an assessment session with our psychologist and clinical coordinator, who specialises in these first visits. That way you can review the situation and consider together what the most suitable support may be.

Do all processes begin with a first assessment?

No. The 25-minute first assessment takes place in processes where we need to understand your situation and guide you towards the most suitable professional.

In couples therapy, family therapy and neuropsychology this prior session does not take place. If you need couples or family therapy, tell us the service and your availability. We will contact you to schedule the first visit directly with the specialist professional.

In neuropsychology, assessments take place in the morning and the neuropsychologist herself proposes the available dates. Depending on the needs of each case, the assessment process may be spread over one to three days.
