Psychology

Psychology for every moment of life

At Calma de Ser we support adults, adolescents, children, mothers and fathers, couples and families at different moments in life.

psychological support in person in El Masnou and online

Sometimes you arrive knowing what is wrong. Other times you only notice that something is not right, that you have been holding on for too long, that a situation keeps repeating, or that you can no longer keep doing everything the same way.

We work from an integrative, relational and human perspective. We do not focus only on the symptom, but also on your story, your relationships, your body, your emotions and the moment in life you are going through.

Every process is different. That is why we seek to understand what you need and offer you support adapted to you, with closeness, rigour and a clear therapeutic direction.

What do you need right now?

what therapy can help you with

Sometimes distress has a name. Other times, not yet.

You do not need to arrive with a neat explanation. You can seek help because you recognise a specific problem, or because you feel a distress you still cannot explain.

Therapy can help you if you are going through:

  • Anxiety, stress or a feeling of being overwhelmed.
  • Sadness, grief or a significant loss.
  • Self-demand, insecurity or self-esteem difficulties.
  • Problems in your relationships or difficulty setting boundaries.
  • A personal, family or professional crisis.
  • Difficulties related to parenting.
  • Relationship conflicts or emotional distance.
  • A distress you cannot yet name.

online psychology, wherever you are

Online therapy makes it possible to begin or continue a process from anywhere, keeping the care, presence and depth of the support.

It may suit you if you live far from El Masnou, have complicated schedules, travel often or prefer to have sessions from your own space.

It is available for adults, adolescents aged 16 and over, and couples, as long as the format is suitable for the situation.

integrative, relational and human psychotherapy

At Calma de Ser we work from an integrative, relational and human perspective.

This means we do not focus only on the symptom, nor on what can be seen from the outside. We are interested in understanding what is happening to you, how you are experiencing it, and how it may relate to your story, your relationships, your body, your emotions and your moment in life.

Not everyone needs the same thing, and not all processes follow the same path. That is why we bring together different approaches and therapeutic tools, adapting them to each person’s needs.

Sometimes the work begins by putting things into words and understanding what is happening. Other times we need to attend first to what the body expresses, to emotion, or to the way the nervous system responds to certain situations.

We believe in the value of the therapeutic relationship, presence and listening. But behind every session there is also training, professional analysis, supervision and an intervention designed for you.

We do not look for quick fixes or formulas that work for everyone.

We want you to understand yourself better, recognise how you have learned to protect yourself and recover more freedom to choose how you want to live and relate to others.

How to start

The first step, calmly

You do not need to know exactly what is wrong, what kind of therapy you need, or which professional may be the best fit for you.

In individual processes we always begin with a first assessment appointment. It is a 25-minute online meeting in which we talk about what you are going through, gather your needs and begin to work out what kind of support can help you.

This first appointment is not just a formality.

Sometimes, putting words to what is happening, receiving initial professional guidance and understanding a little better where the process may go can already bring a certain calm.

After the assessment, we guide you towards the psychologist or psychotherapist on the team who may be the best fit for you, taking into account your situation, your needs, your availability and the format you prefer. The assigned professional will contact you to arrange the first session.

In couples therapy, family therapy and neuropsychology, the starting process is different. In these cases, we gather the necessary information beforehand and put you directly in touch with the specialist professional.

First assessment appointment

It is normal for doubts, nerves or even a little fear to appear before you start. Taking the first step can also stir things up.

When you feel the moment has come, you can book directly the day and time that suit you best through our online calendar. When you make the booking, the appointment is confirmed and paid.

You will then receive a confirmation message with all the information you need. We are here to make you feel supported from the very first moment and to help you arrive at this first appointment with a little more calm.

First appointment

Shall we talk?

We know that taking the first step is not always easy, especially when you are not yet sure what you need.

That is why the best way to start is to book a first assessment appointment. In that meeting we can listen to you, get to know a little better what you are going through and guide you on the format, the availability and the kind of support that may suit you best.

You do not need to arrive with everything worked out. That first appointment is also there to help you sort out your doubts and start with more clarity.

And if there is something you still need to ask us before booking, you can write to us through the form or on WhatsApp. We will reply with warmth and calm so that you can take this first step feeling supported.

Tell us what you need

You do not need to know which therapy or which professional to choose. We will help you find your way.

questions you may be asking yourself

Do I have to know exactly what is wrong with me?

No. Many people arrive with doubts, confusion or simply the feeling that something is not right.

The first appointment is precisely for beginning to put words to what you are going through, sort out what worries you and understand what kind of support can help you.

Do I have to tell everything in the first session?

No. You do not need to explain your whole story at once, nor arrive with your ideas in order.

You can share what you can and want to tell at that moment. Trust is also built little by little, respecting your boundaries and the pace you need.

Does the first appointment commit me to continuing?

No. It is a first meeting to get to know each other, understand your situation and assess whether our way of supporting people suits you.

After the session, you decide whether you want to continue.

Will the first appointment be with my future therapist?

Not necessarily. The assessment session is carried out by a professional whose role is to understand your situation and guide you within the team.

If you decide to continue, we will put you in touch with the psychologist or psychotherapist we believe may be the best fit for you, taking into account your needs, your availability and the kind of process you want to begin.

What happens after the assessment?

After the session, we will guide you on the next steps and on the professional on the team who can support you.

If you decide to continue, the assigned professional will contact you to arrange the first session and begin the therapeutic process.

Can I have therapy in person or online?

Yes. We offer in-person care in El Masnou and online therapy.

During the first appointment we can consider with you which format may best fit your situation, your needs and your moment in life.

What if I want couples therapy, family therapy or a neuropsychological assessment?

In these cases, the starting process is different and we do not hold a prior assessment session.

We gather the necessary information and put you directly in touch with the specialist professional to arrange the first visit.

How long does therapy last?

There is no single length that applies to everyone.

The length will depend on what you are going through, your needs and the goals you agree on with your psychotherapist. These goals can be defined at the start and can also be refined or changed as the process advances.

Based on them, your psychotherapist can give you guidance on the approximate length of the therapy. The process will be reviewed with you periodically to assess how you are, what changes are taking place and what you still need to work on.

Therapy can focus on one or several goals, always respecting your pace and what you decide to address at each moment.

How often are the sessions?

Initially, we recommend weekly sessions. This continuity allows the professional to get to know your situation, your story and the needs of the process better, and helps give more consistency to the therapeutic work.

Later, when the process is more settled, you can review the frequency together and consider whether it makes sense to stay weekly or move to fortnightly sessions.

Monthly or more spaced-out sessions usually correspond to review or follow-up processes, rather than active therapy. They are usually proposed towards the end of the process, when the goals worked on have been reached and the person wishes to keep an occasional space for support.

The frequency will be reviewed with you throughout the process and can be adapted according to your progress and what you need at each moment.

What if I do not feel a connection with the professional?

The therapeutic bond is an important part of the process. Sometimes we need a little time to feel trust, but it can also happen that you do not feel that professional is the right one for you.

You can tell us freely. We will talk about it with you and consider the possibility of a change within the team. Finding a therapeutic relationship in which you can feel safe, understood and respected is also part of the support.

Will the therapist tell me what to do?

Therapy is not about giving you instructions or deciding for you.

It is a space for personal discovery with the support of a professional. They will help you understand what you are going through, recognise patterns, connect with your needs and widen your possibilities for choice. They can also offer you guidance, tools and new ways of looking at what is happening, but the decisions about your life remain yours.

Sometimes it may seem that in therapy you are “just talking”, but behind the conversation there is a professional, strategic and technical perspective. The way of listening, the questions, the interventions and the therapeutic bond itself are designed to help you connect with your experience, become aware of what is happening to you and understand yourself more deeply.

It is not about telling you which path to follow, but about accompanying you so that you can discover what you need and choose from a more conscious place of your own.

How much do the sessions cost?

You can see the prices, payment options and terms before you start.
