In this episode we talk with Carla, our first guest, about what it means to go “to the psych” naturally, without drama and as an act of self-care. Carla shares how she started therapy as a teenager because of concentration difficulties and how, years later, she went back on her own initiative to understand herself better, gain confidence and change patterns she found hard to shift alone.
Together we reflect on the stigma around psychotherapy, the difference between talking with friends and doing so in a professional, confidential space, and the importance of reviewing your own story to understand why you think and feel the way you do. We also go into topics such as learning to be alone, social pressure around romantic love, choosing a partner without losing yourself and allowing yourself to change course at work and in life. An honest conversation about taking charge of yourself and learning to choose yourself.
